Indian Arm wrestlers Made The Whole Nation Proud By Bagging Seven Medals at The Asian Championship 2024

In an impressive display of strength and skill, the Indian arm wrestlers left their mark at the 2024 Asian Championship held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The team returned home with a total of seven medals, including one gold and six bronze.

Shrimant Jha, competing in two categories, emerged as the top performer for India. He clinched the gold medal in the left-hand para category. Additionally, he secured a bronze medal in the right-hand para category.

Laxman Singh Bhandari also contributed to India’s medal tally by winning two bronze medals in the Masters category.

Sachin Goyal, a star of the Baroda Badshahs franchise in the Pro Panja League, added to his accolades. He claimed a bronze medal in the highly competitive right-hand Senior category.

Ibi Lollen, hailing from Arunachal Pradesh, showcased her prowess in both hands. She secured two bronze medals in the Women’s right-hand and left-hand categories

Pramod Mukhi narrowly missed the podium, finishing in fourth place after an intense bout.

President of Armwrestling Federation Opens up on The Performance of Indian Arm wrestlers at the Asian Championship 2024

Preeti Jhangiani, President of the People’s Armwrestling Federation of India (PAFI), expressed her pride in sending this competitive Indian contingent to the Asian Championship.

“It was a great privilege for me as the President of The People’s Armwrestling Federation India (PAFI) to send this strong and competitive Indian contingent for the Asian Championship 2024.”

“Our Armwrestlers performed well and I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate them for bringing accolades to the country. It’s great to see more and more youngsters taking up Armwrestling as a career option and not just a hobby”.

She commended the Indian arm wrestlers for their outstanding performance and emphasized the growing interest in arm wrestling as a career choice among youngsters.

The People’s Armwrestling Federation India (PAFI), affiliated with the Asian Armwrestling Federation (AAF) and the World Armwrestling Federation (WAF), continues to nurture and promote this exciting sport.
