CA CEO Nick Hockley on India vs Pakistan in Australia
Cricket Australia (CA) CEO Nick Hockley has expressed interest in hosting such a series in Australia, potentially breaking the hiatus that began after the 2012-13 season.
“Pakistan and India are traditional rival teams; there is a lot of excitement for their matches,” Hockley said. While no formal talks have been initiated, Hockley emphasized Cricket Australia’s willingness to facilitate and support such initiatives. “To the extent that we’d be able to facilitate or help in that, we’d be very open to do so. However, the final decision rests with the respective cricket boards of India and Pakistan.”
India and Pakistan have faced each other primarily in ICC events since 2012-13. The absence of a bilateral series has left fans yearning for more encounters between these fierce rivals.
While formal talks haven’t commenced, Hockley emphasized CA’s willingness to facilitate an India-Pakistan series. He acknowledged the excitement surrounding their matches and the potential commercial success. The Melbourne Cricket Club and the Victorian government are also keen on hosting high-profile games.
