Team India’s T20 World Cup warm-up fixture against England slated to be held on October 18 has been called off. The Men In Blue will instead face South Africa ahead of the tournament to focus on their preparation.
The initial warm-up schedule for Team India saw them face England and Australia on October 18 and 20 respectively at the Dubai International Stadium. The clash against Australia was reportedly an afternoon encounter.
However, according to the new schedule, the fixture against Aaron Finch’s side has been preponed to evening 7:30 PM on October 18. They will then face the Proteas on October 20 in their final warm-up fixture. Apart from the dates, there is a shift in the venues as well. Both of the contests will take place at the ICC Academy instead of Dubai as initially planned.
India will face Pakistan to start their T20 World Cup campaign on October 24. On the other hand, Australia and South Africa will lock horns to start their respective campaigns underway in the other group.
The multi-nation event which is being held after a long interval of 5 years will start with the qualification stage where 4 teams out of 8 will progress into Super 12s.
The England national team will now play their warm-up match against Pakistan at Tolerance Oval on October 18. They will face the Black Caps on October 20 in Abu Dhabi in their second and final warm-up game.
