India’s cricket team has taken a significant step towards securing a spot in the World Test Championship (WTC) final with a comprehensive victory over Bangladesh in the second Test match held in Kanpur. India’s bowlers then took center stage, with Ashwin and Jadeja leading the charge. Ashwin’s early breakthroughs on the fourth evening put India in a strong position, and Jadeja’s brilliant spell on the final day turned the game in India’s favour. With this victory, India now needs just three wins in their remaining eight matches to guarantee a spot in the WTC final.
The Road Ahead for World Test Championship final
India’s path to the WTC final looks promising, but they still have some challenging fixtures ahead. Their next assignment is a three-match Test series against New Zealand, starting on October 16. A clean sweep in this series would almost ensure India’s place in the final. Following the home series, India will travel to Australia for the Border-Gavaskar series, which will be their final series of the current WTC cycle.
