India’s first woman Paralympic Games medallist Deepa Malik has joined BJP to strengthen their presence in Haryana. She was welcomed in the presence of Haryana unit’s chief Subhash Barala and general secretary Anil Jain.

“Thank you Narendra Modi sir & Amit Shah sir for believing in me and warmly welcoming me in BJP! Humbled and honoured. Look forward to continuing my service to the nation & developing New India under your stewardship,” wrote Deepa in her official Twitter handle.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, BJP won seven out of ten seats in Haryana with the other three seats going to Indian National Congress and Indian National Lok Dal. The saffron party would like to continue their fine form this year also. Moreover, according to the sources, Deepa Malik might also get a ticket to represent BJP.

Deepa shot to fame in the 2016 Paralympic Games when she won a silver medal in the shot put event. Following that, the 48-year-old won a gold medal in the F53/54 Javelin event at the para athletic Grand Prix in Dubai.
