Bhuvneshwar Kumar participated in the “skill session” ahead of the first test vs Bangladesh, featuring in the side’s training for the first time since returning from hamstring injury and side strain.

Kumar last featured for India in the ODI series played in West Indies last August. Since then, his injury has been a cause for concern. He followed a rehabilitation programme at the National Cricket Academy.

The skill session saw Kumar engage in a catching session with fielding coach R Sridhar and then briefly sweat it out in the nets. The net session saw him bowl a few deliveries without going on a full flow.

India’s physio Nitin Patel and trainer Nick Webb will now have a bigger role to play as they guide Bhuvneshwar Kumar towards his full fitness. The absence of Bumrah and poor bowling form of Khaleel in recent times has made Bhuvneshwar a much needed asset in the limited overs format.
