India lifted the ICC U19 World Cup title after defeating England in the final at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua on Saturday. It was the fifth U-19 crown for India displaying the dominance the teams have shown in this format and in this age bracket. It was also the fourth consecutive world cup final for the team and also the first ICC championship win since 2018 in all formats including the senior men’s international.
Team India displayed a dominant bowling action where bowler Ravi Kumar picked two wickets in two consecutive overs. He sent Jacob Bethell and Tom Prest packing to the dugouts.
England kept losing wickets at a fast pace and at the 17th over, England were 61/6 and it looked like the whole batting lineup would collapse under 100 runs. But Rew and James Sales put up a fifty-run partnership which put England in a respectable position. James Rew put on a dominant batting performance scoring 95 runs off 116 deliveries, but he fell short of his century as he was dispatched by Ravi Kumar in the 44th over. Team England would eventually collapse for 189 runs setting a 190 runs target for Team India.

Batting second, India lost an early wicket in Angkrish Raghuvanshi (0) in the first three deliveries. India lost its second wicket in Harnoor, who along with Shaik Rasheed had put on a 49 runs partnership. Shaik Rasheed played wonderful innings under pressure scoring 50 off 84 deliveries. However, he too was sent packing immediately after by James Sales.

Following Rasheed’s exit, skipper Yash Dull was also sent to the Pavillion by James Sales. Team India were 97/4 with 93 runs required. Team India was under extreme pressure and then the lower order in Raj Bawa and Nishant Sidhu who bought the momentum back to Team India. Dinesh Bana led India to its fifth title in style after hitting back to back sixes off James Sales following which the entire Indian team is running out to celebrate their fifth Under-19 World Cup win.
