The team includes national champion Balraj Panwar, Tokyo Olympian Arjun Lal Jat, and Ujjwal Kumar. Panwar will compete in the men’s single sculls (M1x) event, while Jat and Kumar will participate in the men’s lightweight double sculls (LM2x) category.

Indian Rowing Team for Olympic Qualifiers

Balraj Panwar has already secured India’s first Paris 2024 quota in rowing after winning the bronze medal in the men’s single sculls (M1x) event at the Asian and Oceania Rowing Olympic Qualification Regatta. He finished third with a timing of 7:01.27.

Arjun Lal Jat and Ujjwal Kumar also finished with a bronze medal in the men’s lightweight double sculls (LM2x). However, only the top two in the event obtained Paris 2024 quotas. Since Arjun Lal Jat has suffered a back strain, Ujjwal partnered with Arvind in Chungju.

The Indian men’s double sculls duo of Salman Khan and Nitin Deol won the gold medal with a timing of 6:35.73 in the Asian Rowing Cup. This event was held simultaneously with the Asian Qualifiers in Chungju.

The rowers are currently preparing for the final Olympic qualifiers at a technical training camp in New Delhi. This will be followed by preparatory camps before they leave for the qualifiers.

The final Olympic qualifiers are a crucial event for the rowers. It provides them with an opportunity to secure a spot in the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics. With the recent successes and rigorous training, the Indian rowing team is hopeful of a strong performance in the final qualifiers.
