In a thrilling start to the World Championship of Legends(WCL), India and Pakistan secured victories in their opening matches in Birmingham, England on Wednesday, July 3, 2024.

India’s win at the World Championship of Legends

India, led by veteran cricketer Yuvraj Singh, defeated England by 3 wickets. Robin Uthappa starred with the bat, scoring a brisk 50 off 32 balls in India’s successful chase of 166 runs in 20 overs. Harbhajan Singh played a crucial role with the ball, taking 2 wickets and conceding just 16 runs. He also finished off India’s chase with a six.

Ian Bell top-scored for England Champions with 59 off 44 before Samit Patel gave the much-needed impetus to the side, smashing 51 off just 25 balls. Owais Shah smashed 23 off just 9 balls as England posted 165 for 4 in 20 overs.

Pakistan Champions vs. Australia Champions

Pakistan chased down a challenging target of 190 runs in a last-over thriller. Younis Khan was the hero for Pakistan, scoring a vital 64 runs. Aaron Finch hit 68 off just 40 balls to help Australia Champions post 189 on the board. Ben Dunk and Callum Ferguson chipped in with 27 and 26, respectively while Nathan Coukter-Nile smashed 25 off 10 balls.

The league promises high-calibre competition, featuring teams from cricket powerhouses like India, Pakistan, and Australia.

The WCL, supported by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), celebrates past successes while providing intense competition for veteran cricketers. As India and Pakistan kick off their campaigns, cricket fans can expect more exciting clashes in this prestigious tournament.
