The Indian speedster Jasprit Bumrah tallied his first five-wicket haul on Indian soil during the ongoing second Test match against Sri Lanka at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Bumrah is currently playing his fourth Test match in India and came up with a stupendous spell with the pink ball. This feat marked his eighth five-wicket haul in Tests. He guided India to bundle out Sri Lanka for just 109 in the first innings as the hosts take a massive 143-run lead. The pacer managed to tally three wickets on Day 1 to as the visitors stumbled at the onset.
Jasprit Bumrah continued his momentum on Day 2
He scalped the wickets of Kusal Mendis, Lahiru Thirimanne, Angelo Matthews Sri Lanka were down to 86/6 at stumps on the opening day. Starting Day 2 on a high note, he dismissed Lasith Embuldeniya on his eight ball of the spell.
He then dismissed Niroshan Dickwella with a sharp bouncer on which the batter got only the glove and Rishabh Pant behind the stumps took a comfortable catch. Bumrah also completed his 300 wickets in international cricket taking Dickwella’s wicket. He finished the first innings with remarkable figures of 5/24. It was also the best bowling figure by an Indian pacer against Sri Lanka as Bumrah outworked his senior teammate Ishant Sharma on the list.

Bumrah received support from the veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin who claimed a couple of wickets on Day 2 as Sri Lanka registered their second-lowest score against India in Tests which is 109 runs. Mohammed Shami also picked two and Axar Patel snared in the visitors’ first innings. However, Ravindra Jadeja was the only bowler who remained wicketless.
