Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the upcoming three-match Test series against the Proteas due to a minor stress fracture in his back. Umesh Yadav has been named as the replacement for the series.\
In a potentially huge blow to team India, Jasprit Bumrah’s wait to play a home test will extend with the bowler having suffered a stress fracture in his back. In a statement released by the BCCI, Bumrah’s injury was detected after a routine radiological screening.
The pacer will undergo rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore and will be closely monitored by the BCCI medical team.
Bumrah was in red-hot form coming into the series. The 25-year-old picked up 13 wickets in the two Tests against the West Indies in the Caribbean which also included a hattrick.
Umesh Yadav who initially did not make the cut for the squad paves his way in place of Bumrah. The pacer from Vidarbha, who once was a regular in the team got down the pecking order with the other seamers proving to be more potent. Yadav will be accompanied by Mohammad Shami and Ishant Sharma in the series.
