The Men In Blue picked up 18 wickets to send the Proteas into a state of helplessness in Ranchi. The hosts are now only two wickets away to wrap up a second consecutive 3-0 scoreline victory over South Africa at home.

The visitors’ torrid time with the bat in the subcontinent continued as they once again allowed India to enforce the follow on. Barring Zubayar hamza, no batsman was able to possess a threat to the Indian bowlers.

Only three batsmen managed to cross the double-figure mark as they haplessly collapsed for 162 which prompted the Indian skipper to opt for the follow on with the opposition being 335 runs behind of their first innings total.

South Africa’s second outing was something out of a horror movie with the side losing half their wickets for just 35 runs courtesy of a fiery display of fast bowling by Umesh Yadav and Mohammad Shami. To make matters worse, Dean Elgar was forced out of the pitch after a blow to his head.

The tail order managed to hold on much like the rest of the series to force play on Day 4.
