Indian skipper Virat Kohli opted to enforce the follow-on after having dismissed the visitors for 325 runs below their first innings total. In dire need of a positive start, South Africa got off to an inauspicious start after Aiden Markram got out on a pair as Ishant Sharma trapped him front with a booming inswinger in the second ball itself.

It was the same old Proteas story as the day progressed with wickets falling at regular intervals. Wriddhiman Saha’s return test was capped with a couple of stunning catches which signaled the end of the top order.

Tailenders were the ones who provided resistance once again as the duo of Keshav Maharaj and Vernon Philander played out a total of 137 deliveries. Umesh Yadav was once again the pick of the Indian bowlers with his three-wicket return.

The Indian bowlers wrapped up the proceedings soon after tea to register a mammoth victory by an innings and 137 runs. This continues India’s unbeaten run in the ongoing World Test Championship and also reclaiming the Freedom trophy.
