IND vs ENG 3rd Test Day 2 Review: Team India take series lead with a 10-wicket domination over England

Team India went into Day 2 of the pink ball 3rd Test match against England, trailing behind 13 runs with the scoreboard showing 99-3 with Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma, who played a brilliant innings at the crease.

A Day of the spinners

Undoubtedly, with the events happening at the new Motera Stadium it is needless to say, the pitch favoured the spinners in a huge way. India got a lead with Sharma and Rahane at the crease but the English spinners seemed to be deadly as well wiping the Indian batsmen.

The left arm spinner Jack Leach made four dismissals including the wickets of skipper Kohli,Sharma and Pujara.

Surprisingly,  England skipper Joe Root joined the party as well bagging a fifer, dismissing the dangerous Ravichandran Ashwin, who played brilliantly in the previous test match. He also perished wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant.

Indian batting line-up collapsed drastically after the English spinners came up with extraordinary performance with the ball. India’s innings slumped from 98 for 2 last night to 145 all out.

Indian spinners destroys English batters once again

It was deja vu from the previous innings. Moreover, it has been the story of the whole test match and the spinners have been the talking point.

Axar Patel who managed to get six wickets in the first innings, quickly wiped off Zak Crawley, Johnny Bairstow and skipper Joe Root after the commencement of England’s second innings.

Axar Patel who saw his entry into the test team got an incredible feat as he achieved his first ten-wicket haul and it is for the first time by an Indian spinner in five years.

The English batters were eyeing to score a defendable lead by failed in front on the mayhem caused by the hosts in Ahmedabad. Ashwin also accomplished another milestone getting 400 wickets. The visitors were bundled for 81 runs and India were set a target of only 49 runs.

India leads the series by 2-1

It was not a difficult task for the Indian openers- Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill after the former scored 25* off 25 balls and the latter 15* off 21 balls to wrap up the test match only on the Day 2!

Thereby, India are leading the 4-match test series by 2-1 and it is to be seen how the test series ends as the fourth and final test match is set to start from March 4 at the same venue.
