While Virat Kohli led Team India bounced back well in the second Twenty20 International against England, they have faced a totally different issue. They have been fined 20 per cent of their match fees for their slow over-rate against England in the match in Ahmedabad on Sunday. The Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees have imposed the sanction after Team India were one over short of the target after their scheduled time.

According to Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which associates with minimum over-rate offences, players have to give 20 per cent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in their scheduled time.

However, Virat Kohli pleaded guilty to the offence and he has also accepted the proposed sanction, so there wouldn’t be any formal hearing. On-field umpires Anil Chaudhary and K.N. Ananthapadmanabhan along with the third umpire Virender Sharma have levelled the charge as well.

While at one end Kohli faced the fine, many spoke about his poor form with the bat as well. After failing to score in recent times and became a centre of debate – Virat Kohli has finally returned to scores with an unbeaten 49-ball 73 in the second T20I against England. After his stunning show, he revealed that he had a chat with the team management, his wife Anushka and also with his Royal Challengers Bangalore teammate AB de Villiers before the game that helped him returned to the form.

“I had to shift the focus back to the basics of the game. Probably thinking of too many variables from the outside. I always take pride in the fact that I do the job for the team, so happy I did that than that I got 70 odd,” he said at the post-match presentation. “Kept my eye on the ball. The management spoke to me about things. Anushka is here so she also keeps speaking to me about thinks. I had a special chat with AB de Villiers before the game. He told me just to watch the ball. So I did.”
