The cricketing landscape in Uttarakhand is set to witness a thrilling spectacle as the inaugural Uttarakhand Premier League (UPL) kicks off from September 15 to 22. Organized by the Cricket Association of Uttarakhand (CAU), this premier T20 competition promises to showcase local talent and provide an electrifying atmosphere akin to the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The UPL will feature five men’s teams and three women’s teams, all vying for the coveted titles. Cricket enthusiasts can expect intense battles and exciting matchups throughout the tournament.

The action will unfold at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Dehradun, the picturesque capital of Uttarakhand.

To ensure equal opportunities for all teams, the UPL Player Draft will take place on September 1. Each of the eight teams will select one marquee player. For the men’s teams, the options include players like Akash Madhwal, Rajan Kumar, Deepak Dhapola, Swapnil Singh, Aditya Tare, and Kunal Chandela. Meanwhile, the women’s teams can choose from Ekta Bisht, Punam Raut, and Mansi Joshi.

The CAU aims to provide a platform for young cricketers from Uttarakhand to showcase their skills. It’s an opportunity for them to rub shoulders with seasoned players who have excelled at the highest level.
