“If we have to lose, we will lose with the new kids,” Wasim Akram slams Pakistan Cricket Team

Former Pakistan cricket captain Wasim Akram has expressed his frustration over the Pakistan cricket team’s performance in the T20 World Cup 2024. Following Pakistan’s loss against India, Akram has called for a significant overhaul of the team.

Pakistan failed to chase a target of 120 runs set by India, leading to their defeat. This loss, coupled with an earlier upset by the United States, has left Pakistan with zero points after two matches. Akram, in a video on Twitter, criticized the team’s lack of game awareness and called for the introduction of new players.

Wasim Akram’s rant at Pakistan Cricket Team

“It was a very very sad day for Pakistan cricket team. I keep saying that there is always win and loss in the game. But the way they lost the match, either me, or you have to tell the PCB what is going wrong. Why do we have to do this? Because enough is enough, we need changes now. We need to bring in new players, 6-7 of them. If we have to lose, we will lose with the new kids. We will back them and make a fighting team,” Wasim Akram said.

In his passionate plea, Akram emphasized the need for situational awareness, which he believes cannot be taught by a captain or a coach. He pointed out that players need to understand when to attack and when to see off, implying that the current team lacks this understanding.

“A captain and a coach cannot teach you what situational awareness is. Who you have to see off, who you have to attack. And you cannot be spoon-feeding everything,” Akram slammed Mohammad Rizwan in his video.

Akram also criticized Babar Azam and Shaheen Shah Afridi, stating that the T20 World Cup was not the time to dwell on their captaincy saga. He urged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to take bold steps and bring about changes in the team.

“I have a request for the chairman of PCB, take a bold step, forget about who is angry for not getting captaincy, you are working for the country, stop these things,” Akram further added.
