Iceland cricket turned to Twitter for help after finding themselves short of kits ahead of their very first televised match.
The island nation of Iceland, yet to attain status from the ICC are trying to earn its name after being formed in 2008. The team, who have their kits supplied from All Rounder Cricket don’t have enough kits for the crucial match on 29th July as part of the European Cricket Series.
The team were promised that their kits were fast-tracked by the supplier, but have not had any promising update as of yet. Moreover, the supplier is refusing to refund the amount given to them, which was apparently the cricketing board’s entire annual clothing budget.
Through a Twitter post, the team shared their plight and requested for help. They also divulged the kit designs and stated the supplier’s incompetence towards this matter. Here’s what they posted:
WE ARE DESPERATE. This has never happened to us before. We have our first-ever televised cricket next week and our kit supplier has let us down so badly. Please share and share until we find someone who can help us! We need 36 jerseys in Iceland by Wednesday 29 July!
These are the three team kits. All we get from All Rounder Cricket is (every day) “we’ll get back to you tomorrow”. For six weeks. And they never have. Not once. We begged for a refund. They refused. We’ve had no kit for seven games. They have our entire annual clothing budget!

Iceland played their first competitive fixture against Switzerland in July 2018 which they managed to win by a staggering 251 run margin.
The Icelandic Cricketing Association currently boasts a pool of 35 players. The country had its first official cricket ground opened by the prime minister in May 2019 after having had to play on artificial football turfs.
They recently came into the limelight when they offered Ambati Rayudu to play for them after the batsman announced his retirement from the sport after being snubbed for the 2019 World Cup in England.
