The International Cricket Council (ICC) recently formed a three-member committee to review the conduct of the T20 World Cup held in the Americas last month. The ICC Board confirmed the need for a comprehensive review of the ICC Men’s T20 WC 2024. The committee, comprising Roger Twose, Lawson Naidoo, and Imran Khwaja, will oversee this evaluation and report back to the Board later in the year.

It was learnt that the allocated budget for the US leg of the tournament was around 150 million dollars. It was found that the budget had exceeded by a fair distance which was flagged by certain influential board members of the global body.
The Poor quality of drop-in pitches, the ticketing system and the logistical issues added to the ICC’s woes. A close look at how various tenders were handed out also raised concerns. The role of some top ICC executives will also be thoroughly looked into by the committee.
The ICC has officially warned both USA Cricket and Cricket Chile. These members have a 12-month period to address their current non-compliance with the organization’s membership criteria. The lack of a fit-for-purpose governance and administrative structure prompted this action.
The ICC Americas office will collaborate with Cricket Chile to remedy their non-compliance. A Normalization Committee, comprising Board and Management representatives, will oversee and monitor USA Cricket’s compliance roadmap. The ICC reserves the right to suspend or expel the Member if non-compliance persists.
