Indian captain Virat Kohli on Wednesday jumped at the fifth position in the recent ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings after his stunning shows in the ongoing T20I series against England in Ahmedabad. He gained a huge 47 rating points after his unbeaten knocks of 73 and 77 in the second and third games respectively.
England wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler has once again entered into the top 20 of player rankings and placed at the 19th after his match-winning 83* in the third T20I on Tuesday. However, his innings helped England win the match by 8 wickets and go up 2-1 in the series as well.
On the other hand, his teammate Jonny Bairstow, who scored 40 runs and was involved in an unbroken 77-run stand with Buttler in the eight-wicket win over India on Tuesday as well, has jumped up two slots to 14th position in the players’ list led by none other than Dawid Malan. Jason Roy too has moved up to four slots to 24th with the scores of 49 and 46 in the first two matches as well.
For India, middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer moved up to 32 places to reach 31st position and Rishabh Pant jumped up to 30 places to 80th as well. Even the all-rounder Washington Sundar (up two places to 11th), pace bowlers Shardul Thakur (up 14 places to 27th) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (up seven places to 45th) have also gained after the successful games.
Meanwhile, Team India and England are playing a five-match T20I series where England are already 2-1 up. Team India will have to put up a great show and win the fourth game in order to stay alive in the series. Otherwise, it will all be England as well. However, after the T20I series, they will play the three-match ODI series in Pune too.
