ICC CWC 2019 Preview: Bangladesh vs. Sri Lanka set to battle it out in another Asian derby

The next game in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 is another Asian derby being played out between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka at Bristol County Ground in Bristol.

While there is some cloud cover around the city, it is expected that no rain should spoil today’s match. However, the cloud cover might affect the match conditions to an extent. Due to such weather conditions, it is expected that there will be plenty of seam movement that the fast bowlers can certainly capitalize on.

In the 2015 World Cup, the two teams had met in the group stages in which Sri Lanka had absolutely thrashed Bangladesh and secured a massive victory, winning by 92 runs.

2015 CWC Result: Sri Lanka: 332/1 (50 overs), Bangladesh: 240 (47 overs)

Till just a few years ago, this contest would have been a no brainer and almost anyone on the planet would have bet their money on a Sri Lankan victory. But the tides have turned now and Bangladesh is a much improved and stronger team, while Lanka boasts of an average lightweight side.

Bangladesh has also been slightly the more consistent team this tournament when compared to Sri Lanka. Thus, the momentum is surely with Bangladesh and they are going into this match as favorites.

Bangladeshi batsmen already in fine form with Shakib Al Hasan, in particular, enjoying a phenomenal purple patch. The Sri Lankan batsmen are out of form and have lacked all sorts of inspirational performance.

Currently, Bangladesh has a far more well-balanced squad than their Asian rivals and are clear favorites to win this game.
