Ahead of the Indian Cricket Team’s flight to England, the Captain Virat Kohli and Head Coach Ravi Shastri addressed the media sharing their views regarding the marquee event before departing for London.
In the conference, Kohli emphasised on how playing ‘really good’ cricket has been the team’s aim and the form of all the World Cup-bound players in the IPL is a positive sign that he will like to take going into a tournament of such stature.
He also spoke about the importance of the wrist spinners in the squad. Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal will play a vital role in the team achieving success in England. Kedar Jhadav too will be a key to ensure a balanced bowling attack according to Kohli.
On the other hand, Ravi Shastri feels the team has been playing exceptional cricket for the last five years, and if India can play up to their potential, the cup will definitely come to India.
He stressed on the importance of enjoying the tournament and not let the high stakes get the better of them. Moreover, it will be crucial to adapt from venue to venue and be flexible in terms of the strategies.
Speaking on MS Dhoni, who is one of the impact players for India Shastri said:
“M.S. Dhoni’s communication with Virat has been great. The way he was moving in the IPL was great. As a keeper, he has shown that there’s no one better than him. He will be a big player in this World Cup.”
