While cricket has just started to pick up pace amid global pandemic of COVID-19, the ICC headquarters in Dubai has taken a massive blow, as a few members have tested positive for the deadly virus. Meanwhile, the staffs are in mandatory isolation period as per the health protocols of the United Arab Emirates.

On the other hand, according to the strict health safety protocols, the ICC headquarters will be closed for a few days and all the members have been requested to work from home, as the entire premises will be sanitised for operations to restart soon. Amid this situation, the only good news is all the six IPL teams are based out of Dubai.

Notably, the 2020 edition of Indian Premier League has been playing in Dubai instead of India, keeping the constant rise of COVID-19 cases in mind. Meanwhile, the teams are based at a different place which is away from the headquarters and it is noteworthy that the ICC Academy grounds are “safe for training” too which is located in Dubai Sports City.

“It has been managed very well by the ICC as they were prepared considering the second surge of cases in the UAE,” the board official said.

As per the information of PTI, all the COVID-19 affected staff of the ICC are isolating themselves according to the local protocols and the people who came close to them as well as their close contacts are also maintaining the same rule too.

“The ICC Academy is perfectly safe because neither it is adjacent to the office headquarters nor are there are any ICC staff who is present at the practice session. So there is no question of any health scare as far as IPL teams are concerned,” a senior board source said to PTI on the condition of anonymity.

However, during the crunch situation of COVID-19, 13th edition of IPL has certainly given the fresh air to breath to everyone where they can watch their players playing after more than a break of six months. While it has gained a lot of limelight across the globe, it is likely to break some major records in the coming days.
