In the world of cricket, camaraderie and friendly banter are as much a part of the game as the intense competition. A recent instance of this was when Glenn Maxwell, the Australian all-rounder playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), made a light-hearted comment about his teammate, Virat Kohli.
Glenn Maxwell praises Virat Kohli
Maxwell, in an interview with ESPN Australia and New Zealand, revealed a fun side of Kohli, who is known for his aggressive approach and passion for the game. He said, “He’s like a kid in the field – it’s so funny watching him bounce around – I have to sort of remind him to act his age every now and then because he’s making me look bad”.
This comment was made in good humour and reflects the friendly rapport between the two players. It also highlights Kohli’s energetic presence on the field, which is one of the many reasons he is admired by fans worldwide.
Kohli, the former captain of the Indian cricket team and one of the most successful batsmen in the world is known for his youthful exuberance and relentless energy on the field. Despite being in his mid-thirties, Kohli’s enthusiasm and passion for the game remain undiminished.
Maxwell’s comment also sheds light on Kohli’s performance in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season. Despite RCB’s slow start to the season, with three losses in their first four matches, Kohli has been in top form. He has scored 203 runs in four matches, averaging 67.66, and is currently leading the race for the IPL 2024 Orange Cap.
While other big players like skipper Faf Du Plessis, Cameron Green, and Rajat Patidar have struggled to perform with the bat, Kohli’s consistent performance has been a silver lining for RCB. His energy and enthusiasm on the field have been infectious, inspiring his teammates and delighting his fans.
