India’s wicketkeeper, Sanju Samson, recently reminisced about the emotional victory in the T20 World Cup 2024. After India defeated South Africa in the final on June 29, securing their second T20 World Cup title while remaining unbeaten throughout the tournament, Samson found himself unable to wipe the smile off his face for one or two hours after the final whistle.

Sanju Samson describes his World Cup experience

Samson described the experience as unbelievable. The moment the final ball was bowled in Barbados, he couldn’t contain his joy, and the emotion lingered for hours.

“Unbelievable experience right after the last ball of the 20th over where we won the final in Barbados and I could remember myself, like I couldn’t stop smiling for the next one or two hours actually, so the emotion was so high. So I think I believe that I was very fortunate to be a part of such a wonderful team. I think all the credit has to go to the whole BCCI and the whole cricket team and the coach and the captain and each and every one who contributed,” said Samson.

Despite not getting any game time during the T20 World Cup, Samson felt fortunate to be part of such a wonderful team. He credited the entire Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the cricket team, the coach, and the captain for their collective effort.

Samson emphasized that the triumph in the West Indies and the USA was a result of a complete team effort. Every player who took the field contributed significantly to the win.

So, especially looking at how we played this World Cup. I think it was a complete team effort. I think it was the whole like 11 to 12 guys who all played. They all made some crucial contributions. So it was a great team effort by everyone,” said Samson.

As Samson continues his cricket journey, he carries the memories of that victorious day, a testament to the power of teamwork and the joy of representing one’s country on the global stage.
