26-year-old, who had already won two Super 100 titles last year at the Dutch Open and Russian Open showed great character as he secured his winners medal beating Loh Kean Yew 21-13, 14-21, 21-16 at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad.

Sourabh pocketed the first game in a comfortable manner after going into the break with a 11-4 lead. It didn’t take him long to return from the break and win the first game.

The second game saw Sourabh once again take a similar route, jumping to a early 5-0 lead. But the Singaporean was not giving up very easily and slowly clawed his way back into the match. At 14-13, Loh Kean Yew took five consecutive points and pocketed the second game.

Going into the break in the third set, none could predict the winner as Sourabh had only a point lead. But following the break, Sourabh kept taking a significant lead over the Singaporean before taking home the game 21-16.

Meanwhile in the women’s doubles final, India’s Ashwini and Sikki could not repeat the heroics of Sourah Verma and stumbled against Korea’s Baek Ha Na and Jung Kyung Eun 17-21, 17-21 to settle for second place.
