It hasn’t been the best year for Germany National Team. In fact , it has been horrendous as per their own standards as Germany suffered six defeats in a calendar year for the first time and lost two consecutive competitive matches for the first time since 2000.
Something had to change after Russia 2018 and relegation from Nations League and how much ever shocking the news seems to be , it is what it is – Mats Hummels, Jerome Boateng and Thomas Mueller’s Germany career’s are apparently over.
Joachim Lowe gave a simple explanation to the DFB site : “2019 is a new beginning for the Germany national team. It was important for me to personally explain my decision to the players and the FC Bayern management.
“Now it’s time to set the course for the future. We want to give the team a new look. I am convinced that this is the right step. With the the EURO 2020 qualifying campaign about to begin, we wanted to make it clear that this is a new start. The youngsters coming through will have the room they need to grow. Now it’s up to them to take on responsibility.”
German FA president Reinhard Grindel added: “I welcome the fact that Jogi Low is now furthering the change of our national team. The start of qualifying for the Euro 2020 is the right time for personnel changes.”
Among the Munich trio , they have 246 caps. Farewell to some of the iconic footballers to have donned the Die Mannschaft kit.
