In a shocking incident, Hero Motosports rider Joaquim Rodrigues was crashed at 82 kms in Stage 1 of Dakar 2024 rally. The rider was conscious when the medical team examined him and was airlifted to the nearest AlUla hospital. His condition is stable as of now, but looks like he suffered some serious injuries.

Previously Paulo Goncalves of Portugal died after a crash in Dakar 2020 rally. He was from Hero Motosports as well. He suffered a fatal crash at 276 kms in the seventh stage going from Riyadh to Wadi Al Dawasir. The organizers pronounced him as dead after he was found unconscious, suffering a cardiac arrest.

Earlier Rodrigues finsihed at 21st position in the prologue stage yesterday. Earlier in the day he was seen gearing up for the marquee event, but this unfortunate incident has left him to withdraw on Day 1 itself.

Despite of the tragic incident, the Hero Motosports is go strong in Stage 1 of Dakar 2024 rally. After 170 Kms, Ross Branch, who finsihed 3rd in the prologue, is leading in the Bikes category.
