In less than a month, the Coronavirus pandemic that originated from the city of Wuhan, China, found its way into every corner of the world. The primary mode of transmission were the unsuspecting tourists, who unintentionally brought the virus from the epicentre. However, despite huge number of precautionary guidelines and procedures released by WHO and the Government of India, some  didn’t bother to follow them, and as a result, the virus has now entered the country. Amongst all the woes, senior cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle has come up with a statement on Twitter, indirectly taking a dig at Bollywood singer Kanika Kapoor.

Despite the warnings and suggestions going around to prevent further spread of the virus, many have not bothered to pay heed to them, and has taken the global pandemic very lighly. This had irked Harsha Bhogle, who recently took it to social media to express his dissent towards the non-cooperating part of the population.

yesterday, on his official Twitter handle, Bhogle wrote: “It is so disappointing when so many people are trying so hard and stupid, literate people coming from infected areas go around partying.”

He also indicated that despite the efforts of many, the carelessness of just a handful can cause a severe desecration in the population: A million people can do right but it requires a few silly people to lose the fight. Let us stay vigilant. We are in this together.”

Mentioning the notion of people who have arrived from virus-ridden areas and then landing themselves in social gatherings, seems to be a jab at singer Kanika Kapoor, who recently came back from London amidst the global emergency from the pandemic.

Even after coming back from Europe, which has seen massive infections around, Kanika was reported to hide her travel history from officials to avoid quarantine and self isolation. Even after that, she was allegedly involved in a party with her family and friends in Lucknow.

After Kanika was tested positive for COVID-19, the singer has received severe reprimand from the public, and even an FIR was lodged at her. However, Kanika herself denied the charges thrown at her, stating that she had undergone screening at the Lucknow airport after landing

“I was part of the scanning process at the airport. I also called the CMO to check me and filled all forms at the airport,” Kanika said in an interview with Aaj Tak.

“I attended a small get together on March 13,” although she accepted that she was involved in partying, Kanika has stated she has tried her best efforts to prevent anty further spread of the virus: “I tried my level best not to contaminate others. Throughout the past week, we were all wearing gloves.”
