Off-spinner Harbhajan Singh noted the golden opportunity the current Indian contingent have to notch their first-ever Test series win in South Africa. The Men In Blue put in a valiant effort during the last tour but ended up on the losing side by a 2-1 margin.
Team India named a strong side for the tour despite a few notable absentees. The revised tour will kick start with the Boxing Day Test. Harbhajan Singh pointed out that the Proteas are not as strong as before. The South Africans earlier boasted players like Hashim Amla, AB de Villiers, Dale Steyn and more, but are a shadow of their former self with the transition period still udnerway. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Harbhajan said:
“I believe this is India’s golden opportunity to win their first Test series in South Africa. If we look at their team, it is not as strong as it used to be. Even in the last tour, players like AB de Villiers and Faf du Plessis… those guys never allowed India to win there. Although India have played well there, they have never won a series and this is their best chance because their batting isn’t great.”
South Africa’s strongest suit comes in the form of their fast bowling unit, which will be heavily relied upon in helpful conditions at home. The likes of Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, and Lungi Ngidi will be in focus against a strong Indian batting outfit.

India will start the Test series at the venue where they finished off the previous tour with a famous win. The sides will play a total of 3 Tests as part of the World Test Championship cycle while the 3 ODIs is to be treated like a regular exhibition bilateral series. The 4-match T20 series is set to be contested at a later date.
