Harbhajan Singh takes a huge shot at MS Dhoni on getting credit for India’s triumphant 2011 World Cup campaign

The former Indian skipper MS Dhoni has been often criticized for receiving all the recognition for India’s historic ICC World Cup win in 2011. The former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh, who never shies away from speaking his mind, recently took a massive dig at the former skipper. Not only did he added the 2011 ICC World Cup but he was also a part of the team when India lifted the ICC T20 World Cup 2007 under the leadership MS Dhoni. Though ‘Bhajji’ has disproved rumors of having bad blood with Dhoni, he did not back off from taking a jibe at ‘Captain Cool.’

Harbhajan Singh takes a shot at MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni is often credited for playing a 91-run knock in the World Cup final. The winning six he smashed off Nuwan Kulasekara is an iconic moment in the Indian cricketing history and the moment is defined as India’s memorable triumph. In the same game, Gautam Gambhir had also played a crucial role in the run-chase with a brilliant knock of 97 runs.

Lately, Harbhajan also joined that list and opined that India’s World Cup triumph was only possible due to teamwork and not based on individual performances. He said this as a part of his IPL 2022 analysis prior to the game between the Delhi Capitals and the Kolkata Knight Riders.

”When Australia wins the World Cup at that time everyone says ‘Australia won the World Cup’. When India wins the World Cup at that time, everyone said, ‘MS Dhoni won the World Cup. Toh baaki ke 10 waha lassi peene gaye the?[did the other 10 players went there to drink lassi?],” said Harbhajan Singh while speaking on Star Sports.

“What did the other 10 players do? What did Gautam Gambhir do? What did the others do?  It’s a team game. When 7-8 players play well only then only your team will progress”, he added.
