The novel Coronavirus has taken a new victim in the world of Tennis. Bulgarian tennis star Grigor Dimitrov, who was recently in action with Novak Djokovic for an exhibition tournament, has revealed that he is now COVID-19 positive, and is now under self isolation at his home.

Dimitrov, currently ranked no. 19, played at the Adria Tour debut in Belgrade, Serbia alongside many iconic names of the Tennis fraternity such as Djokovic, Dominic Thiem, Alexander Zverev, Marin Čilić, Andrey Rublev, and many more last week.
Following the second leg of the event against Borna Coric in Zadar, Croatia, Dimitrov withdrew from the event after reporting of feeling unwell, and took to social media yesterday to open up about testing positive of COVID-19.
“Hi Everyone-I want to reach out and let my fans and friends know that I tested positive back in Monaco for Covid-19,” the former world no. 3 posted on his official Instagram.
Following the news of Dimitrov having contracted the virus, the final match of the Adria Tour to be played between Djokovic and Rublev was suspended. However, its not yet known how Dimitrov contracted the disease.
“I want to make sure anyone who has been in contact with me during these past days gets tested and takes the necessary precautions,” the 29 year old continued, “I am so sorry for any harm I might have caused. I am back home now and recovering.”
“Thanks for your support and please stay safe and healthy,” he concluded.
Dimitrov’s match against the world No. 33 Coric on Saturday ended in a 1-4, 1-4 thrashing of the Bulgarian, who then stated that his health was not not up to snuff, and he couldn’t play in his peak physical performance.
“This is a consequence of physical effort and exposure to the sun in the past few days, and I will have to miss the last day in Zadar,” Dimitrov said on 20th June, before he decided to pull out from the event.
