Giovanni dos Santos picked up a bad injury after the horrible tackle of the centre back of C.D. Guadalajara in the match against Club America. The star player of Club America, Giovanni dos Santos was trying to go for a 50-50 ball and the centre back, Antonio Briseno also tried to win it. However, the high boot tackle with the stud knocked off a piece of flesh from the thigh of Giovanni dos Santos.
It was a horrible challenge and rightfully the defender was shown a straight red card. The former player of Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur was in severe pain after the challenge. He was taken to the hospital as soon as possible in the ambulance direct from the ground. The injury was very much shocking and the fans were really worried about their star player. However, the club management confirmed that the injury of Giovanni dos Santos was not that much as it was expected. The star player will now undergo a surgery and he is expected to be back on his feet within 6 weeks.
The doctors will not delay the surgical procedure as there is a chance of infection in the injured place. However, the situation of the player is now stable.
Initial reports from the hospital indicate Gio dos Santos did NOT fracture anything or suffer serious knee injury. The flesh wound on his right leg is potentially the only concern.
