GOATs meet: What happened when Sunil Chhetri invited Virat Kohli over for dinner?

Sunil Chhetri and Sonam Bhattacharya. Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma. Indian sports fandom’s two most favourite couples. The partners have gathered the attention of media and made headlines with their heart touching backstories in the recent past. After a gap of two years, the cricket and football fans finally saw the captains of the national teams of both sports getting together along with their spouses, as Virushka visited the Chhetri residency a couple of days ago.

Following Sunday’s victory over Australia in the third and final One Day International game and securing the series 2-1, Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma visited Sunil Chhetri’s home, as Sonam Bhattacharya, the superstar footballer’s better half revealed on social media.

A couple of days ago, Sonam posted a picture on her official Instagram account, where she was seen along with her husband joining Virushka for a picture together. Sonam captioned the gratifying photo with the following:

“No phones (till we picked one up for this picture), no glance at the clock. Just four such different people speaking about everything under the sun. Was lovely hosting the two of you for dinner. You two are all kinds of wonderful!”

The picture went viral, as compliments were flowing in from followers and fans.

Anushka Sharma herself followed up with a comment. The superstar Bollywood actress wrote: “We had such a beautiful evening that don’t be surprised if we land up at your house uninvited next time.”

Sonam, daughter of the iconic Mohun Bagan legend Subrata Bhattacharya replied stating that her door is always open for the loving couple: “You know where we live. You guys have a home in Bangalore at ours.”

The four icons were framed together previously back in 2017, as Sunil Chhetri posted oh his official Twitter handle. While the men lead their respective teams, the 35 year old veteran eulogised the contribution of their better halves in the caption, addressing them as ‘captains’.

On Sunday, the bowling squad of the Men in Blues packed the Aussies up by 286 in the first innings. A brilliant ton from opener Rohit Sharma and a stunning knock of 89 from the captain himself saw the hosts at M Chinnaswamy Stadium chase down the target comfortably with 7 wickets remaining.
