The Lord’s test between India and England turned out to be a blockbuster and a spicy contest. There were several heated exchanges between players. Due to this, on-field umpires’ had to intervene most of the time. Meanwhile, Centurion KL Rahul explained the reason behind the approach.
Amidst all the heated moments and on field sledging, India were able to secure a historic win at Lord’s. India were particularly aggressive during the fifth and final day’s play on Monday that culminated into a big win for them as they took a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.
A key role in India’s win was played by Shami and Bumrah with the bat in the first session. Both the players recorded a historic ninth wicket partnership at Lord’s. Scoring a legendary fifty, Shami now has a greater test score than Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting and Ab De Villiers at Lord’s.

KL Rahul hinted that England sledging their ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah during his game-changing unbeaten partnership with Mohammed Shami fired them up. Bumrah was bombarded with short deliveries from Mark Wood. He received two blows on his helmet. Also, Jos Buttler and Mark Wood were seen exchanging words with Jasprit.
England were probably avenging for what Bumrah did with James Anderson when the latter was batting on Day 3. Anderson was peppered with short balls from Bumrah which the hosts weren’t impressed with.

KL Rahul eagerly waiting for his name to be permanently inked on Lord’s honours board
KL was awarded the player of the match for his sublime knock of 129 in the first innings. He admits that he is regularly checking the famous Lord’s honors board for his name to have found a permanent place.
“I’ve been looking at it every morning to see if they’ve put it on permanently. They haven’t – it’s still a temporary piece of paper,” he said.
