Gladiator’s stance: Russell Crowe expresses his love for The Ashes as Edgbaston test heads into a thrilling final day


Renowned Hollywood actor Russell Crowe, who is a known admirer of cricket, made his love for The Ashes known through a post on Twitter. 

Russell Crowe, who is the brother of former New Zealand skipper Martin Crowe has often expressed his opinions on cricket from time to time. The actor has always stressed that the test format remains the closest to his heart.

With The Ashes being the most exhilarating brand of cricket to be played in the longest format, it is no surprise that the actor is a huge fan of The Ashes. The series, which is contested in England this time around is off to a great start with the first test heading into an exciting final day.

The Ashes is a constant singular symbolism of traditional cricket with the sport being revolutionized rapidly. The New Zealander posted the following on Twitter:

“I love The Ashes. The pulse, the swings of dominance, the pressed whites, the intensity amongst the players, the red ball, English crowds at home or away. This is the pinnacle. Merely a sport… no… The Gentleman’s War.”
