Former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir has weighed in on Dhoni’s future in the Indian cricket team.
According to Gambhir, Dhoni had once had invested in the future by backing youngsters in his tenure as a captain. Now it is his time to make way for the future stars of the Indian cricket.
Gambhir also added that it is important for the selectors to take Practical decision rather than an emotional one. The selectors meet on Sunday to select the team for the tour of West Indies.
Though Gambhir still believes that Dhoni has been the best captain for India till date. “However, when you back a player for more than a year, and he does not perform, you should look for his replacement. This is how you will get the wicket-keeper for the next world cup,” Gambhir added.
