Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) MP and former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir has claimed to receive death threats from ISIS Kashmir and has approached Delhi Police on Tuesday night for the matter. The cricketer-turned-politician received the threats in the form of emails. More details regarding the threats are yet to be determined. While security has been strengthened outside Gautam Gambhir’s Rajendra Nagar residence. Police are set to take further action after investigation, including verification of the e-mail address from which the threat letter was sent to Gambhir.
Gautam Gambhir lodges police complaint
Shweta Chauhan, DCP central, told ANI that Gambhir has approached the Delhi Police in this regard. “Gautam Gambhir has received death threats from ‘ISIS Kashmir’ through e-mail. Security has been beefed up outside Gambhir’s residence,” Chauhan added.
In a letter to the police, Gambhir disclosed details of the email, which he claims was sent by ISIS Kashmir. It read that the terrorist group is going to kill him and his family.
Gautam Gambhir’s cricketing career for India at the international level culminated after the span of 15 years and he had announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in 2018. He was previously elected as the Lok Sabha MP from east Delhi on a BJP ticket in 2019.

The BJP MP has been vocal about cross-border terrorism from Pakistan. In February this year, Gambhir had said that there should be any kind of relations with Pakistan till the issue of cross-border terrorism is over. He added that the life of Indian soldiers is more important than anything else.
