Australia has finally ended the ODI series against India on a winning note as they defeated India 3-2 in the five matches ODI series. Aaron Finch led Australian team fought back brilliantly in the last 3 ODI’s after trailing 2-0 in the first two matches.

This series loss might be a wake-up call for India ahead of the ICC world cup which starts from 30th May 2019 in England and Wales. But according to Virat Kohli, one thing which India is sure ahead of the World Cup is the playing XI.

Now, Former Indian cricketer, Gautam Gambhir stands in contrary to Virat Kohli’s World Cup playing XI statement in 5th ODI against Australia. He said that the current playing XI is not India’s best playing XI for the upcoming world cup.

I feel squad has been more or less finalised because after the series we have IPL followed by World Cup. I don’t think there is any doubt regarding the squad. But I can guarantee this that this isn’t India’s best playing XI. Virat Kohli had said that this is India’s most likely playing XI for World Cup. But this playing XI does not give you enough confidence. Even if you add MS Dhoni to this team, you won’t find that batting depth in this playing XI,” Gambhir said.
