Sourav Ganguly undergoes angioplasty following heart attack, currently kept under observation

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly underwent an angioplasty to treat the three blocked arteries which resulted in his heart attack. Doctors have confirmed that he is in a stable condition and will be kept under observation for a few days. 

The current BCCI president was admitted to the hospital following complaints of chest pain while working out on the treadmill.

The Woodlands Hospital formed a special three-member team led by Dr Saroj Mondal to combat the situation. The team performed the surgery successfully following which Dr. Mondal stated:

“Ganguly was diagnosed with three blocked coronary arteries after which a stent was inserted in one to remove the blockage,”

The decision to implant more stents will be taken later on the basis of his condition in the upcoming days. The doctor affirmed that Ganguly is in a stable condition and needs to be admitted in the hospital for 3-4 days.

“He will be under strict observation for the next couple of days. We will be taking a decision on our next course of action depending on his improvement. His other parameters are fine and needs to be in the hospital for the next three to four days,” he concluded

Ganguly was initially admitted in the emergency ward of the hospital. After performing preliminary treatment and investigation, he was shifted to another ward after his condition was proved to be stable.

Another member of the three-member team Dr Aftab reiterated that the former skipper underwent successful angioplasty and assured that his condition is stable.

“Sourav Ganguly has undergone angioplasty. He is stable now. He will be monitored for 24 hours. He is completely conscious. There are two blockages in his heart for which he will be treated.

The doctor added that Ganguly is talking and is out of risk at the moment.

As of now he is stable, we will have a meeting on Monday and then we will decide what needs to be done further, priority is to let him settle down after a heart attack. He is risk-free and he is talking as well,
