Olympian Gagan Narang has stepped into the prestigious role of Chef de Mission for the Indian contingent at the upcoming Paris Olympics 2024. This significant appointment follows the resignation of legendary boxer Mary Kom, who had initially been announced as the Chef de Mission but stepped down due to personal reasons.
Gagan Narang’s Olympic success
A celebrated shooter, Narang clinched a bronze medal in the men’s 10m air rifle event at the London 2012 Olympics. His experience and dedication make him an excellent choice to lead the Indian delegation in Paris.
As Chef de Mission, Narang will play a crucial administrative role. He will oversee the well-being of athletes, act as the point of contact with organizing committees, and ensure a smooth experience for the Indian contingent.
The opening ceremony will witness two distinguished flag bearers. PV Sindhu, India’s badminton ace and the only woman to win two Olympic medals. Sharath Kamal, a veteran table tennis player with an impressive Commonwealth Games record.
