The Paris Olympics 2024 is just around the corner and several athletes around the world have already a spot for the mega event. At Tokyo 2020, as many as 124 athletes represented India, which was the largest contingent till then. India also won 7 medals, the biggest tally in a single Olympics. Now, the tally of Indian Athletes in the Paris Olympics 2024 is growing and we might see a similar show.
Over the past few editions, Indian athletes steadily increased at the competition. The trend is going to continue this time as well with many athletes setting high standards across different games. With the recent success at Asian and World events, India is very optimistic to better their previous result at Paris.
Indian Athletes in the Paris Olympics 2024
Indian shooters dominated the list with as many as 21 reserving a quota for the Paris Olympics 2024. But this was acquired by NOC from NRAI (National Rifle Association of India). After the end of qualification cycle, NRAI shall conduct trials and the best performing shooters will be given a chance to represent India.
This is the first time in the Olympics history India will representing in every Olympic shooting category. Trap shooter Bhowneesh Mendiratta was the first to make the cut by qualifying at ISSF world championships.
The face of Indian Athletics, Neeraj Chopra, along with Kishore Kumar Jena made the cut in Javelin throw, in qualifying rounds in the World Athletics Championships 2023.

Indian Men’s Hockey team secured a direct qualification after beating Japan in the final of the Asian Games 2023.

The men’s 20km racewalk poses a challenge as seven Indian athletes have achieved the Paris Olympics qualifying standard, while only three participants are allowed per country. Now, the Athletics Federation of India will have to decide which three go to the Games.
