Shekhar Gawli – the former Maharashtra Ranji Player has been missing after the news came that he fell into a gorge on Tuesday. Gawli, who is the fitness coach of Maharashtra’s under-23 cricket team, had gone for a trip to Igatpuri taluka of Nashik. The horrifying incident took place there and since then he has been missing.

However, there is a conflict of reports about this matter as to how the incident took place. While many say he slipped while trekking and fell into a 200 feet valley, other people have reported that he fell while taking a selfie.

Meanwhile, the search for the coach started late in the night where the local villagers have done their best but still, they couldn’t find anything. Emergency services were also there to search for him but they also failed to find him until evening as well.

Unfortunately, the search and rescue operation for Shekhar Gawli has been put on a hold owing to nightfall, as per the district administration. The search again resumed on Wednesday morning too.

While this news left many sad, there is something to cheer for as well as the 13th edition of Indian Premier League will begin from September 19th and the final will be played on November 10th. The 53-day tournament will take place in UAE instead of India, keeping the rise of COVID-10 cases in mind.

The league will be played across three venues –Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah. The BCCI President Sourav Ganguly on Monday said that he hopes the cash-rich league will break the viewership records this year as well.

“Crowds will watch it on television…they (the broadcasters) are actually expecting the highest rating of IPL this season because they believe if (people) don’t turn up in the ground, they will be actually watching on their television sets,” Ganguly said while giving an online lecture as part of the ‘Symbiosis Golden Jubilee Lecture Series’.

“There is a positive in everything,” he shared.
