Current Kerala Blasters FC coach Kibu Vicuna, who in the recently concluded season led Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan FC to I-League glory has joined in an innovative and ambitious challenge to rebuild the shattered plains of Gangetic Bengal.
Gangetic Bengal was hit by the cyclone Amphan which showed no signs of weakening and at a speed of 130 KM/H destroyed Kolkata, alongside the districts of South 24 Parganas, North 24 Parganas, Howrah and Hooghly.
Vicuna’s partner Kasia Biel was the one to kickstart the challenge. A couple of days back, in a Facebook video, she asked the people of Bengal to stay strong. Then she introduced a challenge which comprises of drawing little houses as a representation of rebuilding Bengal.

Partner Kibu Vicuna was quick to accept the challenge, posting on Facebook: “I accept the Challenge of Kasia Biel. All our thoughts and heart is with our people in Kolkata and West Bengal. I nominate Tomek Tchórz , Paulius Ragauskas and Mariners’ Base Camp. Draw a house, add donation link and send some money to help our friends. #rebuildbengal.”
In the post, Vicuna attached the link of the West Bengal Government’s emergency relief fund for rebuilding Bengal and also a picture of a self-drawn little house.
East Bengal coach Mario Rivera and former Mohun Bagan stars Sony Norde and Omar El Hussieny have also shared supporting messages for the people of Bengal, who have been under the influence of unreliable electricity, water supply and mobile network over the last few days, and where over 1 lakh people find themselves homeless after the cyclone.
