Former Manchester United and Everton long time goalkeeper Tim Howard has decided to call it a day, and is set on retiring come October when the 2019 MLS season comes to an end. The American goal stopper officially revealed the news himself via his Twitter earlier yesterday.

Howard joined the Red Devils for US $4M in the summer of 2003 and stayed at Old Trafford for further 4 years where he won the FA Cup and League Cup, before being loaned out Everton in the 2006-07 campaign, where he left his mark upon his arrival in Merseyside, as a £3 million deal was offered to him the very next season in 2007.

The 39-year old goalkeeper made a club record for the most clean sheets with Everton, during the 2008-09 season. Howard even scored his first goal for the Merseyside club in a 2-1 defeat to Bolton Wanderers, as his wind-assisted 101-yard clearance went past Bolton ‘keeper Adam Bogdan’s goal line, becoming only the fourth goalkeeper in the Premier League to have registered his name on the goal scorer’s sheet.

After making a grand total of 329 appearances for Everton, Howard left England to return to his homeland in 2016, and joined MLS side Colorado Rapids. Earlier yesterday Howard tweeted that he will be retiring once the current MLS season comes to an end in October.
