Team India are on the verge of bowing out of Asia Cup 2022. Former cricketer Eklavya Dwivedi recently shared his thoughts on the side after the loss against Sri Lanka. He raised questions of spinner R Ashwin and wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant. It has been noted how Pant has been batting at No.5 or 6, while Ashwin has not been up to the mark as well. The veteran has made a bold remark on the two Indian stars.

The Men in Blue are making too many changes to their line-up in the ongoing coveted tournament. Rohit Sharma and co. have endured back-to-back losses in the Super 4. After losing to Pakistan by 5 wickets on Sunday, Rohit Sharma and his boys were beaten by Sri Lanka on Tuesday by 6 wickets.

Rohit Sharma’s side are yet to play an unchanged XI in the tournament so far and the injuries have also made a huge impact on the side. Many combinations have been experimented with, particularly, in the wicketkeeper and second spinner slots, but no player has offered the required consistency.

Veteran wicket-keeper batter Dinesh Karthik was dropped following India’s group-stage encounter against Pakistan. He was picked in the side for his exploits in the final overs, but has not found a place in the playing XI for the last three matches.

Eklavya Dwivedi noted the following on Twitter:

“Hard truths: –

@RishabhPant17 is a waste at no. 5-6 in T20, he should be opening!

@ashwinravi99 does not deserve a place in the shortest format (carrom ball as the stock ball doesn’t deserve international game time).

@yuzi_chahal had his strategy right. Persist with him,” Dwivedi tweeted.

India are scheduled to play Afghanistan on Thursday (September 8) and will need other results to go their way if they are to make it into the finals.
