Ambati Rayudu is coming off of an incredible performance in the fifth ODI against New Zealand. He smashed 90 runs off 113 deliveries in a crucial stage where Indians were 18-4 at one point. He along with Vijay Shanker added a 98-run partnership which helped India put a respectable run on the scoreboard.
However, he performed very average in the first four games and was criticized by fans for his performance. He scores were 47 and 40 not out in the second and third ODIs respectively.
Meanwhile, former skipper of the Indian cricket team Sourav Ganguly feels that Ambati Rayudu will make it to the World Cup playing squad.
“Rayudu played well. He fizzled out in the middle but has played well overall and I think he will go to the WC and he will play in India after this and he will score runs and go to the WC. This is a settled team and the 14-15 core of the team is settled and I hope all these players are fit come the World Cup and this team will be a strong team,” Ganguly was quoted as saying by India TV.
India will play their opening match against South Africa on June 5 in Southampton.
Do you guys agree with Sourav Ganguly?
