Former Australian Brad Hogg rooting for India vs Australia in the T20 World Cup Final

Former Australian wrist spinner Brad Hogg has expressed his anticipation for a thrilling India vs Australia final in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. Both teams have already qualified for the Super Eights and are set to face each other on June 24.

Hogg expressed his excitement about the possibility of an India vs Australia grand final, stating, “It sets it up for the possibility of Australia and India in a grand final which I’d absolutely love to happen”. However, he was quick to name Australia as the favourites for their upcoming Super Eight clash against India, mainly because they have already been playing in the West Indies.

Hogg opined, “But I think that first game between Australia and India in the super eights, the advantage would have to be to Australia because they’ve been playing in the West Indies where it’s been difficult, it’s been slow. Whereas the Indian team has been playing in New York where there’s been some seam movement, the batters haven’t been able to get their rhythm and also they’re coming from IPL where they were playing on a lot of flat wickets.”

Despite this, Hogg believes that if the two teams meet in the final, it will be an even battle as the Men in Blue would be more familiar with the conditions by then. He added, “But it will be a different story when they get to the final, the contest will be a lot more even there because India would’ve been used to the conditions.”
