Following finger surgery, Samson joins the RR squad

Samson was receiving rehabilitation at Bengaluru’s Centre of Excellence, and it was unclear if he would immediately retain his wicket.

Sanju Samson joined the Rajasthan Royals (RR) team on Monday after undergoing finger surgery last month.

It was unclear if Samson would immediately take wickets while he was receiving rehabilitation at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. If Samson proves unfit, Dhruv Jurel might be a viable alternative to retain.

After being struck on the finger by a Jofra Archer delivery while batting in the fifth Twenty20 International match against England in February, Jurel also held wicket in place of Samson.

After fully recuperating from a shoulder injury, Riyan Parag will start for RR. The batting all-rounder made his comeback to action in the second phase of the Ranji Trophy after recovering from the injury that prevented him from playing in the Twenty20 Internationals against South Africa and England. He bowled 26 overs against Saurashtra and got a half-century in the first innings.

RR will play back-to-back home games against the Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders in Guwahati on March 26 and 30, following their inaugural match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Hyderabad on March 23.
