Boxing’s biggest star Floyd Mayweather might have retired from professional boxing, at least until further notice, He fought Japanese kickboxing sensation Tenshin Nasukawa on New Year’s Eve in Japan at the Saitama Super Arena in the presence of 37,000 fans.
The fight was only a three-round exhibition match, and it wouldn’t have been counted on their official record. However, Floyd didn’t waste any time as he destroyed Nasukawa within one round.
Floyd started the fight just tossing his arms in the air and then Tenshin threw a left hand that kind of clipped him. Floyd then just destroyed him. Walked through his punches and just knocked him down repeatedly until Nasukawa’s corner saw enough to throw in the towel.
It was supposed to be an exhibition bout but Mayweather came out swinging as he proceeded to batter his much smaller and less skilled foe.
Can you guess how much money did Floyd ‘MONEY’ Mayweather made for this exhibition bout?
He made just over a whopping ₹62 crore for a nine-minute exhibition bout. That translates to roughly ₹45 Lakhs per second.
Mayweather, 50-0, came out of retirement to take on the challenge which had shades of his previous lucrative comeback, his 2017 bout against former UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor for which he reportedly earned over $300 million.
There’s a reason Floyd’s nickname is ‘MONEY’.
